Amanda Duffy
Amanda Duffy believes there is no substitute for getting her hands dirty, both literally and metaphorically – a trait instilled in her from a very young age when she was given her own piece of the family garden to do with what she wanted. Whilst her brothers made tunnels and built mud castles in theirs, Amanda lovingly created a flower bed, until inevitably it was churned over by toy cars and Action Man war games.
Career-wise, she gained a bachelors degree in law and worked in London in the music and television industries, primarily in the area of music copyright. She has worked at the British Broadcasting Corporation and FremantleMedia Ltd., where she headed up the Music Clearances Department and was instrumental in establishing an in-house music publishing company. She still has more than a passing interest in all things music, and regularly attends gigs and festivals, although, sadly, her clubbing days are well behind her.
She now lives in Liverpool, having swapped a London roof terrace for a proper garden. Enjoying getting her hands dirty again, and the slower pace of life, if she is not gardening she is writing about it - preferably sitting in the sunshine....with a glass or two of vino.
